Maddi Classi: I love your colors! You really amped up the colors that you saw in the reference picture. I think it's beautiful. I do agree that the foreground could use work though. I feel like more detail and texture in the front would give the viewer more of a place to be or stand. I think your optical mixture was very good and your technique was great. -Sara R
The contrast in your work was absolutely beautiful. Clouds are very difficult to do normally but you made them look very natural, especially the lower clouds that show the sun is behind them and are darker. The shadows have depth and show that they are not just flat black. The shrub has very precise edges which make it look crisp and fresh giving it a plant-like feel.
Honestly I don't think you could make it much better, it looks like I'm viewing the sunset through a window. The yellow shaded horizon that fades up into the blue makes it very realistic.
Sara's looks amazing. There is so much depth to it. The technique is great. The attention to detail really shows through the blending of colors. The texture helps distinguish the sky from the mountains and foreground. This is just an amazing piece. Good Work.
Will your art is super legit and borderline flawless. Id love to see what you could have done if 90% of it was not completed in one night. That being said you could have used more detail in the background and possibly more texture on the road.
~Jenny, I really like how you did the stones in the foreground. It helps bring the eyes around to the whole paper. The middle tree is also nicely done with mixing the different greens that way, its a nice technique. The Sky is my favorite part, it really makes the picture and gives it a nice feel. however, i would put more detail into the grass and hills to make it more realistic, but other than that i is very nice. - Katelyn McGuffin
David's piece shows an interesting fore-ground, middle-ground, and background, all of which have well defined three-dimensional form in the landscape. The color selection is appealing to the eye, and optically mixed well through out the landscape in various areas, such as the vibrant grass or clouds. In certain areas, the colors could be blended better and a wider variation of color could be used to add more depth and detail to plant life and such.
The reds and blues in the rocks blend well to make a great optical mixture which creates a 3D look. the texture in your sky compared to the texture in your grass and rocks looks very nice and gives it a different look. The clouds have a motion to them. it looks like there are some reds in your grass. that looks nice because opposite colors make excellent shadows. I wish there would have been more emphasis on your foreground just so it's more noticeable. but it looks WONDERFUL :)
Josh The texture in the grass and the different colors really make it pop out. The tree in the foreground gives a sense of depth of field. One thing that maybe could be improved would be a little bit more detail in the tree but other than that it all the patterns in the grass blend together very nicely. -Will Jones
Katelyn MacGuffin piece of art was tremendous. She blended the pastels masterfully and effectively. The blues of the ocean seem real enough to go out and touch. The picture had real depth. The only thing that could've been improved was the sky could've been more smooth to draw your eye further back. But over all it was a tremendous piece of work. -LeeAnne N. Jacobs
Steven had a beautiful optical mixture he was not afraid with his greens and reds. His for ground had great texture and the bank did a great job of moving the eye without seperating the two thoughts. His middle ground had a great feel to it moving the eye through the lights and dark darks. The background of the sky was masterfully drawn softly without giving up the details. I think the tree's in the middle ground would have improved with a little more texture. Yet all in all it was creative and amazing to the eye.
